Each of the 8 composer starts by composing something - anything - under 60 minutes. The resulting work is then given to another KOLABACATS member, who also has precisely 1 hour to remix, flesh out and expand the ideas and textures contained in the first iteration. This process repeats itself six more times. The results are 64 tracks, split in 8 compositions with 8 variations each.

More than a simple musical experiment, this process is a liberating and unpredictable endeavour, promoting total artistic freedom, without any genre or style restrictions. The final result transcends individual ideas and influences and stands on its own with a distinct sound that is both new and familiar.

Chacun des 8 compositeurs.trices commence en composant quelque chose en seulement 1 heure. Le résultat de leur travail est ensuite donné à un autre compositeur, qui a exactement 1 heure pour remixer et élargir les idées et les textures contenues dans cette première itération. Le processus se répète ensuite 6 autres fois. Au bout de celui-ci, 64 pistes audio sont créées, réparties en 8 compositions comprenant 8 variations chacune.

Plus qu'une simple expérience de composition, ce processus est une aventure musicale libératrice et imprévisible, ayant comme valeur centrale une liberté artistique totale, sans contrainte de style ou de genre. Le résultat final transcende les idées et influences individuelles de chacun et propose des sonorités qui sont à la fois nouvelles et familières.
